Fiqh
Islam is a religion of action and Muslim is a person
who acts according to the instructions of the Qur’an and sayings of the Prophet
Muhammad SAW. It is difficult for a lay-Muslim to take Hadith and Qur’anic verses
and start practicing. Fiqh is Islamic Jurisprudence which has been developed with
care and history of meticulous sifting to provide a Science that makes practice
of Islam easy. This course will provide students with opportunities to learn to
practice Islam as they should and equips them with knowledge to take it beyond the
classroom.
Qur’an and Tajweed
Through Qur’an Allah speaks to mankind. When someone
is reading the Qur’an they are reading the words of Allah. If mistakes are made
all sorts of confusion are created which only those who understand can realise the
extent. Ulama’ have said that everyone should strive to recite the Qur’an with beautiful
voice, correct tone and pronunciation. This course will at initial stages allow
students to learn to read with tajweed and thereafter complex aspects of the subject
will be dealt with such as Sciences, tafseer and its writers.
Aqeedah
What are the beliefs of a Muslim? What fundamental
articles of faith should a Muslim hold onto and how does it differ from other believes
which takes them out of Islam. You will look at conflicting factions within Islam
and outside paying particular attention to Shi’ah-Sunni divide and other groups
and how they are not considred within the Ahle Sunnah Wa Al Jama’ah.
Citizenship and Personal Ibadah
This series of courses will provide students with an
insight into the concept of citizenship and how Islam views it as a fundamental
part of a Muslim life. It will give students opportunity to learn about the importance
and tools of getting closer to Allah and morals and manners in Islam – two separate
units.
Hadith
Hadith courses will provide opportunities for students
to learn about the Prophet SAW sayings, doings and approvals. Students will study
preservation of Hadith and its history, classifications and its narrators, and study
of selected Ahadith with commentary. Students will also look at Hadith collectors
and commentators and some of their methodologies.
Study of Biographies
Study of personalities that
Muslims should take as their role models is fundamental to development of personalities.
This series of courses will provide opportunity for students to learn about key
personalities that made a difference in the development of man and his relationship
to his creator. With a combination of historical facts and modern teaching methods
students will be inspired to learn and develop their love for taking on true models
and shape their lives accordingly.
Units in this series include Life of selected Prophets and Life of Companions
of the Prophet SAW.
Classical Arabic
Classical Arabic is the language
of the Qur’an which many want to learn to get closer to understanding the words
revealed by Allah. These are a series of courses that will equip you with sufficient
knowledge to access the Qur’an without having to look at the meanings in English. You will either do classical
Arabic grammar or Classical Arabic spoken.
